Yes, I am about to head off for the infamous K-B Family Reunion (if your family reunion was 200-300 people, your’s would be infamous too…trust me). This year we convene in Seaside, Oregon; and if any of you happen to be in the area, and happen to see someone who looks strikingly like my avatar (or at least, so I’ve been told), feel free to wave/point/stare/run away.
I will be spending all day on Friday attacking the area golf course with gusto and a certain reckless abandon that will terrify anyone else within 300 yards, give or take the effects of wind variance. That’s 300 yards in a 360 degree circle people…be afraid.
I will also be taking my beloved Canon EOS 10D with me, so expect lots of ridiculously silly photos of people (who may or may not be related to me) to appear in the days to come.
As I depart for a weekend of silliness, pot-luck food, beloved family-members, long conversations, a hilarious talent show, and AT LEAST one round of the hokey-pokey…let me leave you all with this link:
I’m pretty sure the July 29th entry sums up my entire blogging existence.
[EDIT: But, the June 04 entry is my absolute favorite; It's so "me" it's scary.]

no way, the july 29 is my twitter existence. your blog posts are way too interesting to merit a rock through the window. unless the note attached were, “i like your posts.” :)
nope, I follow your tweets with to much interest to allow a rock, note or otherwise.

i guess i always thought your avatar WAS you. it looks like an actor’s headshot that would be printed in a play program, but i still thought it was you.
LOL…nope. My avatar is Ivan Bilibin, an illustrator who helped define 20th-century theater scenery design. He was born a century before me, and I find his artwork utterly captivating.
And I also look almost exactly like him. Which is odd because I’m not aware of any Russian blood in my veins.

Hope you have a good (and infamous) time!
That’s the basis for my infamous plan…
BTW, I ordered the Susannah Clarke book you recommended (and a couple others). Can’t wait to read the Austen references.
It’s one of the few books I can recommend without hesitation. I look forward to your review.

Hey, never seen G-G before – thanks for the heads-up, it looks terrific! (Reminds me of the times in college when my roommate and I would ceremonially burn The Family Circle/Circus on the balcony while dancing in circles and chanting.
Really?!?!?
Yes, really.
Wow…that’s…that’s inspired!
I started to tell my favorite family reunion story, but it started to look too long to burden someone else’s comments with, so maybe I’ll whip it into a blog in a bit!
It’s a great blog post, sorry I took so long to comment on it.

Well have fun at your reunion. We don’t really do reunions. Sure there have been attempts in the past but I think we generally have no interest in each other’s lives. I really loved the rock through the window comic. Hilarious. But I don’t think it applies to you or your blog. Oh, and I’m anxious to see the pics you come up with.
Reunions are risky business, so I can understand the hesitation.
G-G is just awesomeness in concept AND execution.
Pics will be up soon.

Ooh, Seaside! Have a great time and be sure to get the cheese popcorn from the candy store down from the really cool art gallery by the Lewis and Clark statue. Got that? Oh and stop by the art gallery if you have time. Some great stuff in there. And I’m not kidding about the popcorn. So good it’s not fair.
I discussed your cheese popcorn in another post…but DAMN…so right…

Family reunions scare me. There’s the recently released from prison cousin; the cousin who in on marriage #4 and has as many children each from a separate woman; the cousin who is gay and think everyone is judging him so he judges us first; the complete ass cousin-in-law who’s conversational contributions circle around insulting everyone; and the hypochondriac uncle who always thinks he’s dying.
We have all of them on your list but the gay cousin. My gay cousin is a sweetheart and I miss her constantly. I actually covered her in another post, and she’s very non-judgmental so we all just love her that much more.
With 300+ attendees, there HAS to be a blog-worthy exchange at your reunion!
It’s not about IF there will be a blog-worthy exchange…it will be about WHICH ONES are the best to use…
